Traffic Disruptions on Highway 99 and Lions Gate Bridge Due to Accidents
On Saturday afternoon, motorists faced significant disruptions as a vehicle accident occurred on Highway 99, just south of Squamish.
The incident was reported around 2:15 p.m., prompting DriveBC to announce that two-way traffic had resumed after both sides were directed to utilize the northbound lanes.
By approximately 3:24 p.m., DriveBC confirmed that the collision had been cleared; however, drivers are still advised to anticipate delays in the surrounding area.
According to Corporal Madonna Saunderson of the British Columbia RCMP, the accident near Murrin Lake did not result in any fatalities. She noted that while there were no critical injuries, two individuals were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
Squamish RCMP are currently on-site, conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the crash.
In another incident, the Lions Gate Bridge was completely shut down in both directions following a serious collision. This has caused substantial delays for commuters and travelers alike.
DriveBC has urged motorists to consider alternative routes as ongoing assessments of the accident are being carried out.
