Tragedy Strikes Abbotsford Home as Fire Claims One Life and Leaves Two Critical

Tragedy struck a residential block in Abbotsford, B.C., as a devastating early morning house fire claimed the life of one individual and left two others in critical condition. The B.C. Coroners Service has initiated an investigation into the fatal fire that occurred on Pineview Avenue near Parkview Street.

Responding to the incident around 6 a.m., multiple ambulances and fire crews rushed to the scene where a spokesperson for the City of Abbotsford, Aletta Vanderheyden, described a harrowing sight: a home engulfed in smoke and flames with at least six occupants inside during the blaze.

Following the firefighters’ efforts, the survivors were evaluated by paramedics on-site, and provincial Emergency Support Services are set to provide them with assistance. Vanderheyden reported, «The fire has been fully extinguished, and all surrounding buildings were safeguarded. The cause of the fire is under active investigation.»

B.C. Emergency Health Services detailed the response, mentioning the dispatch of multiple ambulances with primary care paramedics, advanced care paramedics, and two advanced care response units. Five individuals received treatment and care, with ground ambulances transporting three patients to the hospital. Two other patients chose not to be transported and received medical assessment at the scene.

Despite efforts to reach out to the Abbotsford Police Department for more information, no immediate responses were provided. The external damage to the home was visibly extensive, with signs of fire and smoke evident around its windows and doors.

The incident property, seemingly targeted for redevelopment, displayed a municipal rezoning proposal perched outside the affected building.
