Transnet Disciplinary Action Unfolds at TNPA Following Investigation
State-owned company Transnet has revealed the outcomes of the investigations into alleged impropriety at the Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA). Through the assessment conducted by legal firm Bowmans, Transnet sought to address concerns within TNPA.
The investigation was triggered by a forensic report compiled by Fundudzi Investigators, particularly centered around the tender award for the multipurpose terminal at the Port of Ngqura in the Eastern Cape province.
On June 21, after legal advice and thorough review of investigative recommendations, both Transnet’s Board of Directors and the TNPA Board jointly decided to initiate disciplinary proceedings against TNPA Chief Executive, Pepi Silinga.
Concurrently, Transnet is moving forward with disciplinary charges against other managers implicated in the Fundudzi report and additional TNPA managers allegedly linked to improper conduct. External independent chairpersons have been appointed to oversee these disciplinary actions.
Transnet has emphasized its commitment to handling the situation promptly and sensitively. Any further updates on the matter will be communicated as necessary, further ensuring transparency and accountability in the disciplinary process.
