Travis Kelce has further solidified his standing as a formidable force in the tight end position with a remarkable performance during the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 12 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. In the first half of the game, Kelce surpassed Antonio Gates to claim the third spot for the most career receiving yards by a tight end in NFL history.

The 35-year-old Kelce entered Sunday’s encounter needing just six yards to surpass Gates, who had accumulated 11,841 receiving yards over his illustrious 16-year career with the San Diego Chargers. Kelce achieved this milestone with a 16-yard reception, clocking the achievement at 5:55 remaining in the first quarter.

This latest accomplishment places Kelce behind only Jason Witten, who recorded 13,046 yards over his 17-year tenure, and Tony Gonzalez, who leads with 15,127 yards accumulated primarily during his time with the Chiefs.

Alongside his regular season prowess, Kelce boasts an impressive track record in the postseason. He holds the record for the most career postseason catches at 165 and is second only to Jerry Rice in postseason receiving yards and touchdown catches with 1,903 yards and 19 touchdowns, respectively.
