Travis Konecny Signs Long-Term Deal with Philadelphia Flyers
The Philadelphia Flyers have made a big move by extending forward Travis Konecny on an eight-year contract, which has an average annual value of $8.75 million. This deal will kick off at the start of the 2025-26 season.
General Manager Daniel Brière expressed his excitement about the extension, stating that Konecny is a crucial part of the team. Brière praised Konecny’s leadership skills and how much he embodies the spirit of being a Flyer. He emphasized that Konecny’s hard work and passion make him a key player as the team looks to build for the future.
Konecny also shared his happiness about remaining with the Flyers. He mentioned how promising the team’s future looks and how eager he is to be part of it for the next nine years. Konecny expressed gratitude towards his teammates and the staff, acknowledging that he wouldn’t have this opportunity without their support. He’s also looking forward to playing in front of the passionate Flyers fans again.
<pIn the recently completed 2023-24 season, Konecny stood out with an impressive record of 68 points, which included 33 goals and 35 assists over 76 games. He led the Flyers in various categories, including goals, points, and shorthanded goals, and even topped the NHL in shorthanded goals.
This season was marked by significant milestones for Konecny, including playing in his 500th NHL game and hitting 400 career points. He was also honored to represent the Flyers at the 2024 NHL All-Star Weekend and received the Bobby Clarke Trophy for being the team’s Most Valuable Player, along with winning the Toyota Cup for accumulating the most points as “Stars of the Game”.
Beyond his accomplishments on the ice, Konecny has shown true leadership by giving back to the community. He has been involved in various philanthropic efforts, including hosting Make-A-Wish experiences and advocating for prostate cancer screenings.
In his NHL career, all spent with the Flyers, Konecny has achieved 174 goals and 226 assists, totaling 400 points in 564 regular-season games. His playoff experience includes eight points in 22 games. Konecny was drafted by Philadelphia in the first round of the 2015 NHL Draft and made his debut in 2016.
On the international stage, Konecny has represented Canada, earning a silver medal at the 2017 Men’s World Championship, and has participated in various World Junior Championships.
