The trial of Rebecca Joynes, a teacher accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct with teenage students, continues at the Manchester Crown Court. Joynes, 30, faces six counts of alleged sexual activity with minors, including two instances while being in a position of trust. The court heard testimonies from Boy A and Boy B, whose identities are protected by law.

Boy A recounted in a police interview how Joynes gave him her contact information and picked him up in her white Audi A1 after school. They exchanged messages on Snapchat before heading to the Trafford Centre and then back to Joynes’s flat in Salford Quays. During the car ride, Boy A mentioned his age and inability to drive, to which Joynes allegedly laughed off his comments.

On the journey, Joynes made a remark about driving after picking up the teenager. Despite Boy A stating he was too young to drive, Joynes reportedly responded with amusement, telling him to stop saying that. Upon arriving at Joynes’s flat, they engaged in sexual activity, as per the allegations.

Further details emerged during the trial, including Joynes becoming pregnant by another teenage student, known as Boy B, while facing allegations involving Boy A. The prosecution presented evidence of a complex web of interactions involving Joynes and multiple students, leading to her suspension from the school.

Amidst the legal proceedings, the court also learned about Joynes’s purchase of a high-end £345 Gucci designer belt for Boy A during a visit to the Trafford Centre. The case has raised concerns about the duty of care owed by educators to their students and the boundaries of appropriate teacher-student relationships.

Joynes adamantly denies the charges against her, claiming that the sexual activity with Boy B began after he turned 16. The trial is set to continue for two weeks as more testimonies and evidence are expected to be presented in court.
