Rob ‘The Rabbit‘ Pitts, known for his role in the Netflix series Tex Mex Motors, has passed away at the age of 45. His death, attributed to stomach cancer, was announced by his videographer on social media.
Pitts, who served as the CEO of Pitts Truck Service, a family business that began operations in 1968, was also deeply involved in the restoration and sales of classic cars. He gained fame on the Netflix series, which premiered in June 2023 and featured Pitts alongside fellow car scout Scooter Carrera as they searched for vintage cars along the U.S.-Mexico border.
The show highlighted a variety of classic automobiles, including a 1969 Opel, a 1965 Volkswagen Bug, a 1963 Chevy Carryall, and a vintage Bronco. Pitts was working on the second season of the series when he received his stomach cancer diagnosis.
In a heartfelt video posted to his YouTube channel, Pitts shared that his health began to decline during the SEMA show, where he noticed significant weight loss and persistent acid reflux-like symptoms. He was diagnosed with stomach cancer at the end of March.
Despite his illness, Pitts expressed gratitude for his accomplishments, including opening his own store, completing filming for the second season of Tex Mex Motors, and marrying the love of his life.
