In a surprising turn of events, former President Donald Trump has agreed to participate in an interview with the FBI regarding the recent assassination attempt on his life. This interview is part of the FBI’s routine procedure whenever a crime victim is involved.

Trump mentioned during a Fox News segment that the FBI would be visiting him this Thursday to discuss the incident. The July 13 attempted assassination took place at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a gunman fired shots at him.

According to the FBI, the assailant, referred to as Crooks, has been described as a “highly intelligent” individual who has mostly lived a reclusive life, primarily interacting with his family. Investigators have pieced together information from over 450 interviews about Crooks’ behavior and online activity in the weeks leading up to the attack.

They revealed that Crooks had looked up various harmful topics online, including mass shootings and explosives. Just before attempting to take Trump’s life, he even practiced at a shooting range and purchased components to create explosive devices. Despite these findings, the motive behind his attack remains unclear.

On the day of the attack, Crooks had concealed himself on a nearby rooftop and fired multiple rounds at the rally stage, hitting Trump in the ear. Tragically, another individual at the rally lost their life, and two others sustained injuries before Crooks was neutralized by a Secret Service counter-sniper.

The FBI has noted that while they attempt to gather information, they are not focused on investigating any potential failures by law enforcement at the scene but rather on the facts surrounding the incident.

As the FBI continues their investigation, more details may emerge about the security lapses that allowed Crooks to carry out his attack. Law enforcement officials have acknowledged that there were missed communications regarding Crooks’ suspicious behavior before the shooting.
