South Africa’s celebrated First Lady, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, graced the inauguration of President Cyril Ramaphosa as he embarked on his presidency for the 7th term. In a stunning silver rose-patterned ensemble, Motsepe exuded elegance beside her affectionately termed ‘Buffalo’ as the momentous event unfolded at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.

Chief Justice Raymond Zondo officiated the inauguration of President Ramaphosa, who, after signing the oath, shared a heartfelt kiss with his wife, Dr Tshepo Motsepe, setting social media abuzz with their endearing display of affection.

Dr Tshepo Motsepe, the accomplished First Lady, has carved her niche in society with a distinguished medical career. Born in Soweto and raised in Mathibestad, the eldest among seven siblings, she comes from a lineage of mining magnates, including mogul Patrice Motsepe and the late Chief Augustine Butana Chaane Motsepe, owners of Mamelodi Sundowns.

Completing her medical studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Dr Tshepo Motsepe furthered her education with a Master’s degree in Public Health from Harvard School of Public Health. In 1996, she entered into marriage with President Cyril Ramaphosa, her third marriage after being previously married to Hope Ramaphosa and the late Nomazizi Mtshotshisa.

The couple, blessed with three children – Tumelo, Kiki, and Mashudu, have woven a family dynamic that extends beyond their personal lives. Tumelo, the youngest, has made his mark in the business world as a crypto exchange expert and the proprietor of a top-tier butchery supplying renowned restaurants nationwide.

Aside from her roles as a loving spouse and mother, Dr Tshepo Motsepe spearheads the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, focusing on educational and enterprise developmental initiatives. She also engages actively as a patron of various organizations including the Early Care Foundation and the Students Sponsorship Programme, highlighting her commitment to community welfare.

Dr Tshepo Motsepe’s philanthropic endeavors extend to individual support as seen in her sponsorship of Kgothatso Molefe through school, indicative of her personal dedication to uplifting others.
