UAW Chief Calls Trump a Scab

Shawn Fain Trump Scab Shirt

During a recent address at the Democratic National Convention, United Auto Workers President Shawn Fain caught everyone’s attention with a bold statement. Under his jacket, he wore a bright red t-shirt that read, ‘Trump is a scab. Vote Harris.’ This simple phrase stirred up quite a conversation on social media.

The term ‘scab’ is quite significant in the union world. It typically refers to workers who refuse to join a union or cross a picket line during strikes. In essence, calling someone a scab is an insult among union members, suggesting they are betraying their fellow workers.

Fain didn’t hold back in his speech. He labeled former President Donald Trump a ‘scab’ multiple times, pointing out that Trump’s actions in the past have made him an enemy of labor unions. For many, this kind of rhetoric is not surprising, especially considering Trump’s history with unions.

Fain’s shirt received a cheer from the crowd, who joined in chanting, ‘Trump’s a scab’ shortly after Fain first mentioned it. His remarks highlighted a stark contrast to Vice President Kamala Harris, whom he praised as a true champion of working people.

This isn’t the first time Fain has targeted Trump. Leading up to the DNC, he criticized the former president for not keeping a GM plant in Ohio open, despite Trump’s promises to protect those jobs. With the UAW endorsing Harris, the divide between the two major political parties over labor issues continues to widen.
