Ubisoft Releases Major Update for ‘Star Wars Outlaws’ Reducing Stealth Requirements
Ubisoft has rolled out a significant update for its game ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ termed Title Update 1.4.0, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and PC platforms. This update, which fans have eagerly anticipated, notably minimizes the game’s stealth requirements, a feature that has been a point of contention for players.
The update comes with a plethora of enhancements, including improvements to enemy artificial intelligence (AI) and detection systems. Additionally, there are updates to facial expressions and animations, as confirmed in the detailed patch notes released by Ubisoft. These changes aim to enhance the player’s experience by allowing more freedom in how players approach game scenarios, whether through stealth or combat.
Ubisoft stated, “This Title Update brings changes to combat and stealth allowing for greater player choice, the ability to now keep pick-up weapons in more situations, visual options to allow for a sharper image and much more to improve your journey across the galaxy.” However, the update does not address issues that some PC users have faced after updating to Windows 11 24H2, although Ubisoft assured that they are «working hard to deploy a permanent fix» as soon as possible.
Drew Rechner, the creative director of ‘Star Wars Outlaws,’ affirmed the company’s commitment to aligning the game experience with player expectations. He expressed that these efforts intend to mitigate the setbacks observed during the game’s initial release.
The update is not just technical; it also introduces new gameplay content, including a storyline involving the character Lando Calrissian in a new expansion called ‘Wild Card‘. This will later be followed by a second DLC update, ‘A Pirate’s Fortune,’ scheduled for release next spring.
Beyond gameplay and technical adjustments, the update also includes modifications to the game’s user interface, settings, and audio effects, aiming for a broader refinement of the overall user experience, according to Ubisoft’s statements. Ryan Dinsdale, a freelance reporter for IGN, highlighted that these changes signify Ubisoft’s efforts to enhance the game and anticipate a boost in sales during the holiday season.
