UFC 305 Preview: Du Plessis vs. Adesanya
The excitement for UFC 305 is building as the fight card approaches. Taking place at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia, on August 17, the main event features a thrilling matchup between current UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and former champion Israel Adesanya.
Adesanya, who has a record of 24 wins and 3 losses, is coming back to the octagon after losing the title in September 2023. His defeat against Sean Strickland was unexpected, and now he’s eager to reclaim his spot at the top.
Dricus Du Plessis, holding a record of 21 wins and 2 losses, won the middleweight title with a split-decision victory over Strickland earlier this year. He will be defending his title for the first time against a formidable opponent in Adesanya.
The co-main event will be another exciting clash, pitting Steve Erceg against Kai Kara-France in a pivotal flyweight matchup. Erceg is ranked No. 7 in the UFC flyweight division and is looking to bounce back from his recent loss to Alexandre Pantoja.
Kara-France, ranked No. 4, will be determined to get back in the winner’s circle after a tough decision loss to Amir Albazi last year. This fight could determine the next contender for the title.
In the lightweight division, the rising star Mateusz Gamrot faces veteran Dan Hooker. Gamrot comes in with a three-fight winning streak, while Hooker will look to improve with a recent split-decision win under his belt.
The main card also includes a heavyweight battle featuring Tai Tuivasa and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Tuivasa is in need of a victory after losing his last four bouts, while Rozenstruik is looking to solidify his ranking with a recent TKO win.
Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN+ pay-per-view starting at 10:00 p.m. ET, following the prelims that kick off at 8:00 p.m. ET. The anticipation for this fight card is tremendous, with many eyes set on the main event showdown.
