Union Minister Falls Prey to Fake News About BJP Veteran’s Death
Union Minister V Somanna experienced an embarrassing moment during an event organized by BJP-JD(S) workers in Tumkur. The incident unfolded when he mistakenly believed false news about the demise of BJP veteran Lalkrishna Advani, offering condolences and observing a two-minute silence.
Somanna, misled by local BJP workers, abruptly announced the postponement of the program, only to realize his error soon after. He publicly apologized for the confusion and swiftly departed the gathering, leaving many surprised by the mix-up.
Meanwhile, in a separate event in Bangalore Rural, BJP MP Dr C N Manjunath also fell victim to the same misinformation regarding Advani’s supposed passing. At a felicitation ceremony in Kunigal, attended by notable figures such as former minister D Nagarajaiah and D Krishnakumar, the MP called for a moment of silence to honor the falsely reported demise.
After discovering the truth behind the hoax and learning that Lalkrishna Advani was safe and well, MP Dr C N Manjunath expressed regret for inadvertently spreading the fake news. The incidents serve as cautionary tales about the impact of misinformation and the importance of verifying sources before reacting.
