Usher Receives Lifetime Achievement Award At 2024 Bet Awards With Star Studded Tribute

At the 2024 BET Awards held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, Usher dominated the night by winning the best male R&B/pop artist award for the fifth time and receiving a prestigious lifetime achievement award. His standout year included headlining the Super Bowl halftime show and scoring a hit with ‘Good Good’ alongside Summer Walker and 21 Savage.

Victoria Monét claimed the best female R&B/pop artist award for the second consecutive year, making history following in the footsteps of Beyoncé’s six-year winning streak in the category. SZA scooped up the best female R&B/pop artist award, maintaining her relevance with hits like ‘Saturn.’

Tyla was a predictable winner for the best international act award, standout after her track ‘Water’ peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won her a Grammy.

The evening was further highlighted by a star-studded tribute to Usher, featuring performances by Childish Gambino, Keke Palmer, Summer Walker, Coco Jones, Marsha Ambrosius, Chloë, Tinashe, and others. The tribute culminated in Usher accepting his lifetime achievement award on stage from industry legends like L.A. Reid and Babyface.

Lauryn Hill gave a powerful closing performance, showcasing hits spanning her career and bringing out Wyclef Jean for a collaborative rendition of ‘Fu-Gee-La.’ Host Taraji P. Henson opened the show with a Kendrick Lamar-inspired performance, setting the energetic tone for the event.
