J.D. Vance and the Couch Controversy: A Viral Rumor
There’s a bizarre rumor making the rounds in the political arena, and it’s all about J.D. Vance, who recently became Donald Trump’s running mate. This rumor isn’t your usual political gossip—it suggests that Vance has engaged in some rather unusual activities with a couch.
The whole thing kicked off on July 15, the same day Vance was announced as Trump’s 2024 vice presidential pick. A tweet by user @rickrudescalves jokingly claimed that Vance might be the first vice president to admit to having sexual encounters with a couch, referencing his memoir, Hillbilly Elegy.
Curiously, the specific pages cited in the tweet don’t contain any such confession. Instead, Vance discussed his college experiences at Ohio State University. Despite the lack of evidence, the joke took off, spiraling into endless memes and jokes across social media.
Things got even wilder when the Associated Press published, and then quickly retracted, an article titled “No, J.D. Vance Did Not Have Sex With a Couch.” The AP explained that the article hadn’t gone through their usual editing procedures, leaving many bewildered about how it even got published in the first place.
While this couch-related rumor may seem utterly absurd, it comes at a time when Vance is already facing challenges in his campaign. Just a few days ago, he found himself in hot water for a poorly received joke about how Democrats might label anything as racist, even his choice of diet Mountain Dew.
Additionally, Vance faced backlash for remarks made during a 2021 interview with Tucker Carlson, where he criticized Kamala Harris for being childless. This led to further scrutiny about his views and positions on family and societal responsibilities.
The ongoing chatter about his couch escapades is just a weird twist in an already peculiar campaign season, making Vance a notable figure for all the wrong reasons.
