A Vancouver-based swimwear brand called Left On Friday has made history by designing the first-ever one-shouldered bikini tops for Canada‘s beach volleyball team at the Paris Olympics.

Co-founders Shannon Savage and Laura Low Ah Kee have been working closely with athletes Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson to create a uniform that combines both style and performance.

In fact, the athletes were already using some of Left On Friday’s products in practice when they realized how much more freedom they felt while serving with the one-shouldered design.

After getting approval from the International Olympic Committee for their unique designs, the team was ready to hit the sands in a truly innovative outfit.

According to the co-founders, they aimed to merge fashion with function, recognizing that elite athletes also care about looking good while performing at their best.

Since signing a deal to sponsor Canada’s national women’s beach volleyball team in 2022, Left On Friday has seen a significant increase in interest, with a 59% rise in organic searches following the Olympic spotlight on their designs.

With positive feedback pouring in, the brand plans to expand its reach by launching global shipping soon, allowing international fans to grab the same pieces worn by the Olympians.

Meanwhile, Canada’s other Olympic uniforms, crafted by Lululemon, have also sparked conversations online, as fans express their thoughts on the varying styles and designs.

The buzz surrounding the unique one-shouldered beach volleyball suits has made them one of the standout fashion moments of the Games, showcasing the evolution of Olympic sports attire.
