Vanna White Discusses Transition to Ryan Seacrest as ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Host
Vanna White has expressed her initial concerns regarding Ryan Seacrest stepping in as the new host of «Wheel of Fortune.» In a recent episode, White, 67, shared insights about her experiences working with Seacrest, 49, following the departure of longtime host Pat Sajak, 77.
White mentioned that she has known Ryan Seacrest for approximately 20 years. However, she noted that their recent collaborations for the show have allowed them to better understand one another. «I think our chemistry is good,» she stated.
When questioned about her nervousness regarding the dynamics with Seacrest, White candidly admitted, «I had no idea what to expect, when I’m used to one person for so long. I was very scared, but he’s doing a great job.»
Having been a part of «Wheel of Fortune» since 1982, White noted that the transition would not be easy after Sajak’s announcement that he was stepping down. After Seacrest was confirmed as Sajak’s replacement, rumors surfaced suggesting a potential lack of compatibility between Seacrest and White.
Despite these rumors, an insider close to Seacrest asserted that he and White were enjoying their time together on set, dispelling any claims of discord. White further proved this by posting a picture of the two at dinner, captioning it, «Friends on and off camera.»
Seacrest, who began hosting the game show in July, expressed his excitement about the opportunity. He stated, «This is such an incredible, special franchise. It’s more than a TV show; it is something that means something to people.»
Previously, White had expressed uncertainty about her future on the show after Sajak’s exit, but she ultimately signed a contract extension, ensuring her role through the 2025-2026 season. Reflecting on Sajak’s departure, White commented, «I can’t describe how I feel. I feel happy for him. I can’t imagine doing the show without him after 41 years.»
