Veteran Bjp Leader Rajnath Singh Takes Oath As Union Minister In Modi Government 3.0

Senior BJP stalwart Rajnath Singh, a longstanding figure in Indian politics, was sworn in as a Union minister in the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s government. Winning the recent Lok Sabha elections from the Lucknow constituency in Uttar Pradesh, Singh secured a solid victory against Samajwadi Party‘s Ravidas Mehrotra by a significant margin of approximately 1.35 lakh votes. Despite a strong showing by the INDIA bloc in UP, Singh’s political prowess shone through.

Hailing from the politically crucial district of Chandauli in Uttar Pradesh, Rajnath Singh boasts a moderate and respected persona that transcends party lines. With a rich history in BJP leadership and a close association with stalwarts like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Singh is renowned for his grassroots level work that expanded the party’s reach across the Hindi heartland.

The 72-year-old Singh has had a remarkable political journey, commencing as a dedicated student activist with ABVP before ascending to the presidency of the BJP in 2005. His enduring influence was reaffirmed with another term as party president in 2013. Known for his strategic acumen, Singh successfully retained the prestigious Lucknow seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections.

During his tenure as Union Home Minister in Prime Minister Modi’s initial term, Rajnath Singh showcased his mettle in handling crucial internal security matters. Subsequently, as the Defence Minister since 2019, he spearheaded progressive initiatives to bolster India’s defense preparedness along the China border, besides fueling domestic defense production.

Under Singh’s leadership, the Defence Ministry implemented an assertive policy of fortifying infrastructure along the frontier regions, facilitating swift military mobilization in sensitive areas. Furthermore, his tenure saw significant strides in enhancing India’s maritime capabilities in the vital Indian Ocean waters, a move vital for national security.

Born on July 10, 1951, in the village of Babhora in Chandauli district of UP, Singh’s educational journey culminated in an MSc in Physics from Gorakhpur University. His early organizational roles with ABVP and RSS laid the foundation for a prosperous political career that included stints as Education Minister, Chief Minister of UP, and Minister in the Vajpayee government.

Over the years, Rajnath Singh has been a pivotal figure in Indian politics, navigating various roles with finesse and dedication. His recent oath-taking as Union minister signifies a continuation of his unwavering commitment to public service and national interest.
