Veteran KDKA-TV Political Reporter Jon Delano Announces Retirement
PITTSBURGH, PA — Jon Delano, a distinguished journalist known for his incisive political reporting and analysis, will retire from KDKA-TV on December 1, 2024. The announcement of his retirement was made public by the television station on Wednesday, marking the end of Delano’s three-decade-long career with the network.
Chris Cotugno, the President and General Manager of KDKA-TV, praised Delano’s contribution to the station and the community in a statement. «Jon has been an invaluable asset to the people of southwestern Pennsylvania, bringing them the information they need to stay informed,» stated Cotugno. «His ability to access key decision-makers is unparalleled, and we thank Jon for his dedication.»
Delano, who resides in Mt. Lebanon, began his full-time tenure with KDKA in 1991, initially serving as the money and politics editor. He has held the role of the station’s political analyst since 1994, according to his biography on the station’s website. His work included producing the «Sunday Business Page» segments, a weekend news staple, and co-hosting the “KD/PG Sunday Edition,” a public affairs program aired weekly.
In recent years, Delano launched «Inside PA Politics,» a program featuring a rotating panel of political activists who delve into significant issues affecting the state. Throughout his career, Delano has been recognized for his ability to bring complex political issues into focus for the general public, making him a respected figure in Pittsburgh and beyond.
