Victor Osimhen Joins Galatasaray on Loan from Napoli
Victor Osimhen has officially agreed to join Galatasaray on loan from Napoli for the upcoming season. The Nigerian striker is preparing to undergo a medical examination with the Turkish champions as part of the loan agreement.
The deal for Osimhen does not include an option or obligation for Galatasaray to purchase him at the end of the loan period. However, the terms of the agreement include a break clause that allows the Turkish club to receive a fee if Osimhen departs in January.
Negotiations are ongoing between Galatasaray and Napoli, with the vice president of Galatasaray, Ibrahim Hatipoglu, and director of football, Cenk Ergun, currently in Italy to finalize the transfer details. Plans are being made to transport Osimhen to Istanbul soon to complete the formalities.
During the summer transfer window, Osimhen attracted interest from several clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. However, both clubs were deterred by his salary demands, even after Napoli reportedly reduced their asking price from €130 million to facilitate a potential move.
Additionally, Liverpool also attempted to sign Osimhen during the transfer window, but negotiations fell through due to issues related to his wage expectations.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Osimhen is requesting that Napoli amend his contract to lower his release clause from €130 million to €75 million, potentially increasing his chances of securing a permanent transfer to a top club in the future.
Galatasaray’s pursuit of Osimhen comes after their current striker, Mauro Icardi, has been sidelined with a hamstring injury. The Turkish club is looking to strengthen their attacking options as they compete in the Turkish Super Lig and the Europe League.
Napoli’s management has confirmed Osimhen’s desire to leave the club, highlighting that he expressed no intention to return to the squad this season. The situation remains dynamic as the transfer window continues to evolve.
