Vikings Secure Preseason Victory Over Eagles with Strong Quarterback Performance
The Minnesota Vikings concluded their preseason with a dominant 26-3 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The game showcased the impressive performance of quarterback Jaren Hall, who completed 15 of 21 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns in the first half.
Hall’s touchdowns included an 8-yard pass to Trishton Jackson and a 4-yard pass to Justin Hall. Drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Hall is expected to serve as the Vikings’ No. 3 quarterback behind Sam Darnold and Nick Mullens.
Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell praised Hall’s efficiency and quick play. Following the game, O’Connell stated, “He was efficient. He was playing fast. He’s put a lot of work in. Something he should be proud of, for sure.” Hall highlighted the team’s rhythm and tempo, emphasizing the importance of playing quickly on the field.
In contrast, the Eagles, who did not feature starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, struggled offensively. Their quarterback Marcus Mariota completed 6 of 9 passes for 58 yards but failed to lead any scoring drives. Third-string quarterback Tanner McKee played into the fourth quarter and also did not score.
Despite the win, the Vikings faced challenges earlier in the preseason, including the injury of rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who tore his right knee meniscus and is out for the season. The Eagles, coming off a disappointing end to their previous season, are looking to regroup and build on their strengths as they prepare for the upcoming regular season.
Both teams rested their starters during the game. The Vikings now prepare for their season opener against the New York Giants on September 8, while the Eagles continue to evaluate their depth chart following a tumultuous offseason.
