Violence Erupts in Udaipur After School Fight
Things got really tense in Udaipur on Friday when a fight broke out between two students at a government school. One boy was stabbed in the thigh during the scuffle, and that led to chaos in the area.
After the incident, members of Hindu right-wing groups gathered in the Madhuban area of the city, which only escalated the situation. Protesters set fire to cars parked in a garage and vandalized several shops in a nearby mall.
The injured 15-year-old was rushed to the Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital, where he’s currently in the intensive care unit. Authorities are keeping a close eye on his recovery.
Udaipur Collector Arvind Poswal confirmed that the boy who allegedly did the stabbing has been detained, and his father was also arrested. However, details about the charges against the father haven’t been disclosed yet.
It all started in the morning during a fight between two classmates at the Government Senior Secondary School. After the morning incident, they clashed again at the school’s entrance during lunch, leading to the stabbing.
A large crowd quickly formed outside the hospital where the injured boy was being treated, with local politicians, including Udaipur MP Manna Lal Rawat and MLA Tarachand Jain, coming to check on the situation.
Poswal urged people to stay calm and not to listen to rumors as the police increased their presence to maintain order in the city. However, tensions were high, and markets remained closed throughout the day.
To control the anger of the crowd, police had to use force in some areas like Madhuban and Chetak Circle, trying to disperse groups of protesters.
