Journalist Ridwan Adeola Yusuf, with over 9 years of experience, has addressed claims suggesting the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) deleted a post concerning Peter Obi’s accomplishments in education. The former special assistant on social media to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, dismissed the notion as propaganda.
Omokri highlighted that if WAEC wished to remove content, they would have done so on X (formerly Twitter) as well. He labeled the allegations of mass-failing students in Anambra to tarnish Obi’s reputation as ‘disinformation’.
Omokri shared his perspective on Twitter, emphasizing the need for social media regulation in Nigeria to combat the spread of false information.
He continued by pointing out that WAEC’s post on X remains untouched, contrary to the claims circulating. Omokri discredited the notion of WAEC planning to intentionally fail students in Anambra to undermine Obi, questioning the logic behind such accusations.
On the matter, Omokri expressed, «You guys are just alienating right-thinking Nigerians from your movement! If social media is not regulated, Obidients will set Nigeria on fire.»
In a separate incident, Peter Obi responded to Omokri’s challenge regarding school infrastructure, emphasizing the need to focus on revitalizing existing schools instead of constructing new ones. This exchange unfolded amidst political discussions in Anambra, home to Obi, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
