Water Maintenance Completed in Tshwane
Hey there, residents of Tshwane! Great news coming your way: Rand Water has just wrapped up some important maintenance work on the Mapleton water supply system.
This work kicked off on Friday, July 26, 2024, and lasted a total of 77 hours. That’s about three days and five hours of hard work to ensure that our water infrastructure is in ship shape.
During that time, though, many areas in Regions 2, 3, and 6 faced some water supply interruptions. To help out, the City had to roll out water tankers to those affected spots.
Currently, every part of the City’s water distribution system tied to the Mapleton System is completely empty, but there’s a silver lining! Rand Water’s technicians are busy charging the pipelines right now.
As soon as they finish that process, pumping will resume, but here’s the catch: it might take up to two weeks for the network to recover fully and get back to normal pressure. So, residents are asked to be patient during this time.
In addition, Rand Water has plans for more maintenance on the Palmiet System starting today. That work will continue for about 40 hours, and during this time, pumping capacity will be dropped to 76%.
The City wants to remind everyone, especially those in low-lying areas, to use water sparingly once supplies are restored, so that everything can recover swiftly.
Finally, the City of Tshwane is sincerely apologizing for the inconvenience caused during these necessary maintenance operations.
