Watford Grandmother Wins Sports Car and Cash in Omaze Prize Draw
A 66-year-old woman from Watford has achieved a remarkable victory in an Omaze prize draw, winning a sports car valued at £85,000 along with a cash prize of £100,000.
Elizabeth Hon was awarded the striking Lotus Emira, which is capable of reaching a top speed of 180mph. This victory was part of an Omaze million-pound house draw that successfully raised more than £3 million for Prostate Cancer UK.
As part of her prize, Elizabeth had the opportunity to drive the sports car around the prestigious Donington Park Circuit, an experience she eagerly embraced.
In her own words, Elizabeth expressed her excitement, stating, “Whizzing around the track was so exhilarating, I’ve never done anything like that before, but I loved every second of it, it was one of the best days of my life.» She compared the thrilling drive to her usual experience in her Honda Jazz, describing it as vastly different.
On receiving the news of her win, Elizabeth, a retired NHS nurse, recalled her disbelief when Omaze first contacted her. Initially, her sister suspected it might be a scam. However, the reality soon set in as Elizabeth found herself the owner of a luxury sports car and a significant cash prize.
Despite her excitement over the Lotus, Elizabeth has decided to sell the car and use the funds to upgrade her current vehicle to accommodate her grandchildren more comfortably.
Elizabeth entered the Omaze draw with the hope of winning a house for her family while also supporting an important charity.
James Oakes, the chief international officer at Omaze, commented on Elizabeth’s win, expressing delight that she fulfilled her dream of driving on a racetrack and emphasizing the positive impact the Omaze community has made by raising over £51 million for good causes across the UK.
