The Weeknd Cancels Australian Tour: Refunds Issued to Ticket Holders
Canadian superstar The Weeknd, also known as Abel Tesfaye, has officially canceled his highly anticipated Australian tour, leaving fans disappointed. The tour was set to include four sold-out shows at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, as well as performances in Sydney and Brisbane.
The decision to cancel the tour comes after it was initially postponed in November last year due to ‘unforeseen circumstances.’ Ticketek, the official ticketing company, has assured ticketholders that full refunds will be issued.
A statement on Ticketek’s website mentioned, ‘Whilst we continue to work through the rescheduling process with the artist, tickets for the existing 2023 tour will be cancelled. All purchased tickets will receive a full refund.’
Ticketholders can expect refunds to appear in their accounts within approximately 30 days. Additionally, those who held onto tickets from the postponed shows will have access to a priority pre-sale purchase window for potential new tour dates in the future.
There has been no official statement from The Weeknd regarding the cancellations, and fans have expressed their disappointment over the scrapped Australian tour. The artist did not address the initial postponement either, leaving many awaiting updates.
