Western Australian Honours List Celebrates Exceptional Community Service
In recognition of outstanding service and achievements within the Western Australian community, the King’s Birthday 2024 Honours List has been unveiled, honouring 65 remarkable individuals. The appointments, bestowed by the Governor-General and Chancellor of the Order of Australia, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley, celebrate extraordinary contributions to the nation and humanity.
The list comprises a total of 737 awards, with notable recognitions in various categories. His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley is working to ensure diversity and inclusion in the honours, aiming to highlight achievements of underrepresented groups such as women, people from culturally diverse backgrounds, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals.
Western Australia shines in this list, with recipients from diverse fields and backgrounds. From Companion of the Order of Australia (AC) honours to awards for particular service groups, the Western Australian achievers have showcased excellence and merit of the highest degree in their respective fields.
The Investiture Ceremony, to be led by His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson, AC APM, Governor of Western Australia, will bestow the insignia of appointments and awards to the deserving Western Australian recipients in September, adding grandeur to the recognition of their exceptional service and dedication to the community.
Among the outstanding Western Australian recipients are figures like The Honourable Mark McGowan, recognised with the Companion of the Order of Australia in the General Division, and several others distinguished with Membership and Medals of the Order of Australia. Their contributions across public service, police, fire services, emergency response, and other vital sectors have left a lasting impact on the community and society at large.
