Winners of 70th National Film Awards Announced
The 70th National Film Awards were announced today, August 16, and there are some exciting winners this year!
Rishabh Shetty took home the Best Actor award for his incredible performance in the film Kantara, which he also directed. The movie has been a massive hit, becoming the biggest Kannada film after the KGF franchise.
In a surprising turn, the Best Actress award was shared between Nithya Menen for her role in Thiruchitrambalam and Manasi Parekh for Kutch Express. This tie certainly adds a unique twist to the awards!
Sooraj Barjatya won the title of Best Director for his movie Uunchaai, which features a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan. Neena Gupta also received recognition by winning the Best Supporting Actress award for the same film.
Music maestro AR Rahman made headlines yet again, winning his seventh National Award for Best Background Music for Ponniyin Selvan 2. This achievement solidifies his standing as the most awarded music director in India.
Ayan Mukerji’s film Brahmastra: Part One – Shiva also received accolades, winning three National Awards including Best VFX Film. Mukerji expressed gratitude to his team and the audience for their support.
Sharmila Tagore expressed her joy over Gulmohar winning the Best Hindi Film award, celebrating the recognition with her team.
In other notable wins, KGF Chapter 2 received awards for Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction, while Karthikeya 2 was honored as the Best Telugu Film.
At the same time, fans had mixed reactions, as many were disappointed that Sai Pallavi did not win the Best Actress award for her role in Gargi, highlighting the competitive nature of this year’s awards.
