Lawler had an active first half, being targeted a game-high five times and securing three receptions for 26 yards. Despite his efforts, the Blue Bombers found themselves trailing the Montreal Alouettes 14-5 after the first half.
The California native, Kenny Lawler, played a crucial role in the Blue Bombers’ offense last season, recording 50 receptions for 901 yards and six touchdowns. His contributions helped lead the team to the Grey Cup, where they were defeated by the Alouettes.
In Lawler’s CFL career spanning 53 games with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Edmonton Elks, he has accumulated 215 catches for 3,446 yards and 21 touchdowns. His absence in the remainder of the season opener against the Montreal Alouettes will be felt by the Blue Bombers.
