WWE’s Financial Surge Amid McMahon’s Controversy Leaves Ex-Champion Unfazed
The current absence of Vince McMahon, in light of recent controversies, seems not to have hindered the soaring success of WWE. This development has left former WWE World Champion and Olympic gold medallist, Kurt Angle, unsurprised by the company’s flourishing fortunes.
Under McMahon’s leadership, WWE reached significant heights, but his absence has not led to the anticipated decline. Instead, WWE reported a substantial profit increase to $57.7 million, a considerable rise from the $22 million recorded in the third quarter of 2023.
In a recent interview with Zack Heydorn, Angle shared his views on WWE’s ongoing success despite McMahon’s absence. «You know what, I think he’s been so much of a part of it that it really doesn’t matter now because the guys that were underneath him know the business in and out the way Vince did,» Angle commented. «I will tell you that nobody will ever be Vince McMahon and nobody’s ever gonna be Vince McMahon.»
Angle credited current figures in the company such as Triple H and Paul Heyman as capable leaders who can continue to drive WWE’s growth. «We have a lot of good guys that we can turn to and depend on for the business to continue to grow,» he said. «Vince McMahon may be done, but the business isn’t done.»
The former wrestler emphasized the cyclical nature of the business, noting, «It’s gonna go in cycles, it’s gonna get really popular and then it’s gonna be struggling again, then it will be very popular again and struggle again. The business will always be here because you have incredible individuals like Triple H and Paul Heyman.»
Despite expressing confidence in the current leadership, Angle also recognized the monumental role McMahon played in shaping WWE. He remarked, «This guy, despite everything going on in the world with Vince today, what he was able to do, to take this family-owned company that was in the northeast region and make it a world phenomenon is something short of incredible.»
Angle highlighted McMahon’s achievements, attributing the transformation of WWE into a global entity to his vision and leadership. «I’m sorry, but he’s the guy that deserves most of the credit for that. If it wasn’t for Vince, there probably wouldn’t be WWE today, so you gotta give credit where credit is due,» Angle added.
