Xbox Live, Microsoft‘s online gaming platform, has been hit by a significant outage, causing frustration among gamers worldwide. Users reported issues with signing in and accessing services, including playing popular games such as Minecraft.

The problems surfaced around 2:15 p.m. ET, with over 23,000 reports flooding in on Downdetector, most complaining about login difficulties. Some users even received error messages mentioning ‘scheduled maintenance’.

Alongside Xbox Live, other Microsoft services like Minecraft and the Microsoft Store also experienced a surge in error reports on Downdetector.

The official Xbox Support account on X confirmed the outage and urged users to check their status page for updates. The major outage primarily impacted the ‘Account & profile’ service, disrupting sign-ins and other related functions.

Xbox Live, a mandatory account for multiplayer gaming, was inaccessible for users on Xbox consoles, Windows PC, and the Xbox mobile apps. Gamers took to social media platforms like X to express their frustrations with the technical issues.

One user, Ben, expressed disappointment at not being able to play Minecraft due to Xbox Live’s downtime. Another player, Gregg, shared a frustrating experience of being disconnected while playing Elden Ring, a popular game, due to the outage.

As reports of the outage continued to pour in, Microsoft acknowledged the issue, assuring users that they were investigating the cause. The company’s ongoing investigation was expected to address the issues affecting sign-ins, gameplay, and social activities on Xbox Live.
