14-Year-Old Cavan Sullivan Makes MLS History Debut as Youngest Player Ever
History was created at Subaru Park as Cavan Sullivan, a 14-year-old, entered the pitch to become the youngest player to debut in a Major League Soccer (MLS) regular-season match.
Sullivan’s monumental moment occurred at 14 years and 293 days during the Union’s game against New England Revolution. He surpassed the previous record held by Freddy Adu, who was 14 years and 306 days old.
Sullivan signed with the Philadelphia Union on May 9, 2024, becoming the youngest player in the club’s history to join the first team roster and the fifth youngest player to sign a first-team contract in MLS history.
Since his signing, Sullivan has made five starts with Philadelphia Union II in MLS NEXT Pro and showcased promising talent in each of his appearances.
