Young talent took center stage in the 2024 AFL Mid-Season Draft, with North Melbourne securing the first pick, Geordie Payne, from Tasmania‘s Coates Talent League. Payne, known for his versatility as a midfielder and forward, looks to bring a fresh spark to the struggling Kangaroos.
Joining North Melbourne in the top picks was Jacob Blight, picked up by Richmond from WAFL‘s Peel Thunder. Blight’s defensive prowess adds depth to the Tigers’ roster, while tall forward Jack Hutchinson heads to West Coast after impressing with Collingwood in the VFL.
Other notable picks included Jasper Scaife to Hawthorn, Will McLachlan to Brisbane from Geelong Falcons, and Toby Murray to Adelaide from SANFL‘s Adelaide team.
