The weight loss could be a game changer for Williamson, who has faced plenty of injury issues throughout his career. He did manage to play in 70 games last season, which is his highest number yet, but injuries still haunted him, especially towards the end of the season.

To emphasize the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, the Pelicans even put a clause in Williamson’s massive $231 million contract that penalizes him if his weight and body fat percentage cross certain limits.
