Listeners were in for a surprise on Monday morning when Scott Mills stepped in to host the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, as Zoe Ball was noticeably absent.

Scott kicked off the show with a warm greeting, saying, “Good Morning. You weren’t expecting me, were you? Welcome to Monday. It’s Scott Mills.” He quickly reassured fans who might have been confused, telling them, “If you set your alarm every morning to go off at 6:30 and normally Zoe comes on, please do not freak out. You have not overslept.”

During the show, Scott informed listeners that Zoe would be away for several weeks, sending love to her from the team. This unexpected change came just days after Zoe’s return to the show on August 5, following a lengthy break.

Notably, she had also missed the previous Friday’s show, prompting concern among her followers who had been looking forward to her broadcast. Instead, they were greeted by Gaby Roslin that morning.

Zoe’s absence has sparked curiosity, especially since she had been quite active on social media prior to her disappearance. Only last week, she had shared an emotional tribute to her late mother on what would have been her birthday.

In her tribute, Zoe explained how her family felt “bereft” after the loss of her beloved mother, Julia, who had battled cancer. Zoe had earlier informed her audience about the challenges during this difficult time, including moments when Gaby would cover for her.

Although there’s no official word on the reason for Zoe’s latest absence, her fans are hopeful for her return and are sending their best wishes during this challenging time.
