Espn College Gameday At Indiana University Memorial Stadium

ESPN College GameDay made its first full broadcast appearance at Indiana University‘s Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 26, marking a historic event for the school and its undefeated football team. The show, which aired from 9 a.m. to noon ET on ESPN and ESPNU, featured a special return for Lee Corso, a former Indiana coach and long-time College GameDay host since 1987.

Rece Davis, the host of College GameDay, highlighted the significance of Corso’s return to Bloomington. Corso, who coached the Hoosiers from 1973 to 1982, will be celebrated for his contributions to Indiana football, including leading the team to its first-ever bowl win in 1979. His 8-4 Holiday Bowl-winning team from that year was also in attendance, making the event even more emotional following the recent passing of quarterback Tim Clifford.

The event drew thousands of fans, with many students camping out overnight to secure a spot near the GameDay set. Despite restrictions on bringing chairs, tents, or food coolers, fans were undeterred, eager to be part of the broadcast. IU sophomore Parker McFadden and senior Daniel Tauberman were among the early arrivals, prepared with supplies and determined to make the most of the experience.

Pat McAfee, a former Colts punter and current ESPN talk show host, also joined the broadcast, adding to the local flavor. The show included other notable personalities such as Nick Saban, Desmond Howard, and Kirk Herbstreit. Former IU baseball player and MLB all-star Kyle Schwarber was the guest picker for the day.

The city of Bloomington declared the day “Coach Lee Corso Day” in honor of his return and contributions to the community. The event marked a significant moment for Indiana University, highlighting the school’s football program’s resurgence and the enthusiasm of its fanbase).
