STURBRIDGE, Massachusetts — As autumn settles in, residents and visitors can enjoy a variety of events across the Bay State this weekend, October 10-12. From thrilling Halloween festivities to relaxing boat tours, there’s something for everyone.
At Old Sturbridge Village, the annual Halloween event Phantoms by Firelight invites guests to witness fire dancers and acrobats amid a historically themed atmosphere. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 26, visitors can explore the village from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are available on their website.
For a day trip, head to Red Apple Farm in Phillipston. This locale features a Brew Barn with Moon Hill Brewing craft beer and delicious barbecue. Visitors can enjoy the scenic views, pick fresh apples, and browse the country store, which offers local products and ice cream. The farm is open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
If you’re seeking a relaxing experience, consider a boat tour along the Charles River. The 90-minute cruises showcase the beautiful fall foliage, presenting views of both Boston and Cambridge. Tours depart from the Lechmere Canal behind the CambridgeSide Mall on Fridays at 2:30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
This Saturday, October 11, Worcester Pizza Fest will take place from 12 to 5 p.m. with a variety of local pizza vendors, live music, and craft beer. Entry is $5, while pizza tickets can be purchased for $4 each, redeemable for slices of pizza.
For those looking for Halloween thrills, McCray’s Farm in South Hadley presents its annual Fear on the Farm. The Monster Mash Haunted Hayride runs every Friday through Sunday in October starting at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy various haunted attractions and entertainment during their visit.
