An array of free cultural and community events is scheduled for Los Angeles this weekend, attracting a diverse crowd with interests ranging from art and history to food and outdoor activities. Highlights include the Taste of Soul festival, Grand Ave Arts: All-Access, and the P-22 Day Festival, each offering unique experiences and community engagement opportunities.

The annual Taste of Soul festival is set to take place on Crenshaw Boulevard, spanning from Barack Obama Boulevard to Stocker Avenue. Known for showcasing the vibrant culture of South Los Angeles, the event features over 150 vendors offering a variety of soul food and products. With live performances and community activations, it attracts around 350,000 attendees each year. This year’s festival runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to use public transportation, with access via the E Line to Expo/Crenshaw Station or the K Line to Martin Luther King Jr. Station.

Meanwhile, Grand Ave Arts: All-Access returns to Downtown Los Angeles for its eighth year. This free community event invites residents to explore the cultural institutions of DTLA, with activities ranging from performances to workshops hosted by 15 notable organizations. Attendees are advised to RSVP for access to the various arts activities, enhancing their experience of the city’s cultural richness.

The P-22 Day Festival, celebrating L.A.’s famous mountain lion, will take place in Griffith Park. This family-friendly event offers exhibits and activities focused on wildlife education, running from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It provides an opportunity for attendees to learn more about urban wildlife and conservation efforts in Los Angeles.

In addition to these events, the PST ART Weekend will feature a series of activities across West and South Los Angeles, including museum block parties and interactive workshops. The initiative aims to engage the public with ongoing exhibitions that explore the intersection of art and science.

History and art enthusiasts will also find interest in the L.A. Archives Bazaar at USC and the Beverly Hills Art Show. The Archives Bazaar delves into Los Angeles’ history with talks and archival showcases, while the art show features works from various local artists.

These events, along with others such as the Zombie Walk in Long Beach and the Pasadena ArtNight, offer a weekend filled with exploration and community spirit in Los Angeles.
