K-State Faces Baylor in Crucial Big 12 Baseball Series

WACO, Texas — Kansas State University (K-State) will begin a three-game Big 12 Conference series against the Baylor Bears on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Baylor Ballpark. K-State enters the series with a record of 13-7 overall and 3-0 in conference, riding a four-game winning streak after a recent 7-6 victory against Tarleton State.

Baylor, with an overall record of 15-5 and 1-2 in Big 12 play, is also coming off a strong performance, having defeated Texas State 19-3 on Tuesday night to claim a two-game win streak.

The Wildcats will have right-hander set to start the series opener, marking his fifth consecutive series-opening start, while senior will take the mound on Saturday with a scheduled first pitch at 2 p.m. Left-hander, who has won his last four starts, will pitch in the series finale on Sunday at 1 p.m.

K-State has shown notable offensive prowess, hitting .322 over their last ten games, compared to a .257 average for their opponents. Twelve different players have hit home runs, led by with nine, ranking second in the league. In March alone, K-State has launched 28 of their 36 home runs.

Baylor’s potent lineup boasts a .303 team batting average and averaged nearly eight runs per game. The Bears recently put on a power display, scoring 19 runs against Texas State, including ten runs in the sixth inning alone.

The last five meetings between the two teams saw Baylor leading the all-time series 55-33, including a win over K-State in last year’s series.
