Fargo Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase in West Fargo

A Fargo man was arrested early Thursday morning after leading West Fargo police on a high-speed chase. Steven James Sturgill, 54, faces multiple charges, including fleeing in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, DUI refusal, and driving under suspension. Additional charges are pending as the vehicle he was driving was reported stolen.

The incident began at 1:35 a.m. on January 9, 2025, when West Fargo police attempted to stop Sturgill in the 800 block of 9th Street Northwest for a traffic violation. According to authorities, Sturgill fled westbound on 12th Avenue Northwest, prompting officers to execute a PIT maneuver to stop the vehicle in the 1100 block. No injuries were reported to emergency personnel, suspects, or bystanders.

Police confirmed that the vehicle Sturgill was driving had been reported stolen in Fargo. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be filed. Sturgill is currently in custody awaiting arraignment.
