Handmaid's Tale Season Six Cast Behind The Scenes

LOS ANGELES, March 31, 2025 – The long-awaited final season of “The Handmaid's Tale” has fans buzzing as the first three episodes are set to premiere on Hulu April 8.

This season promises to escalate tensions in Gilead, as it follows June’s unyielding determination to dismantle the oppressive regime. According to the season six synopsis, Luke and Moira join the resistance, while Serena attempts to reform Gilead. Commander Lawrence and Aunt Lydia face their past decisions, and Nick confronts significant character challenges.

Elisabeth Moss, who stars as June, emphasizes that viewers should revisit earlier seasons to fully appreciate the unfolding narrative. “We have so much in the show that references previous seasons,” Moss stated at the Paley Fest. “It’s the culmination of so many storylines, and the best way to watch this season is to make sure you’re really caught up.”

O-T Fagbenle, who plays Luke, hinted at the revolutionary themes rekindled in the final season. “I think people have wanted revenge and revolution, and I think they may get it,” he suggested, adding a cautionary note regarding the story’s intensity. “People are gonna die. People are gonna be tortured. It’s ‘Handmaid’s’ after all. But I think there’s also a lot of emotional satisfaction that happens and a little love.”

Amanda Brugel, portraying Rita, shared her sentiments about the unexpected twists in character allegiances. “I think that fans are going to get so much more than they could ever expect and then some,” Brugel remarked. “Not everyone is a hero in Gilead, and not everyone is a villain.”

Samira Wiley, who plays Moira, highlighted the emotional investment from the cast and crew. “The writers and our fearless leader, Lizzie Moss, who directed the first two and last two episodes, have put their heart, sweat, blood, tears, well hopefully nobody was bleeding!” Wiley said with a laugh. “It’s been an honor and a privilege. It will be a part of my legacy as an actor.”

Bradley Whitford, known as Commander Lawrence, underlined the significance of the show’s storytelling and production quality. “‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ ticks off all the boxes of what makes a show iconic. It needs to be amazing storytelling. It needs to be beautifully shot. We have an incredible cast, and it’s based on a story that has unfortunate urgent relevance these days,” Whitford stated.

Fans can look forward to new episodes each week following the premiere. The anticipation is palpable as the series closes its chapter in a way that promises both reflection and resolution.
