Firefighter Injured in Northampton Apartment Blaze
NORTHAMPTON, Pa. — A two-alarm fire tore through an apartment building on the 2400 block of Main Street early Sunday, leaving one firefighter hospitalized and displacing residents.
The blaze was reported around 2 a.m. and quickly engulfed the second floor and roof of the building. Firefighters battled the flames for hours, with crews clearing the scene by 6:50 a.m. However, the fire rekindled later in the evening before being brought under control again.
One firefighter was struck in the head by falling debris during the operation and was transported to a local hospital. His condition remains unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
Authorities have not yet determined if the building was occupied at the time of the fire or how many residents have been displaced. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
