The First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Patience Eno, has passed away following a brief illness. The announcement was made by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, through an official statement. She died on Thursday, the 26th of September, at a hospital, surrounded by her family.

Ememobong stated, “The First Lady passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, following an undisclosed illness.” The statement also emphasized the family’s acceptance of “the will of the Almighty God” and requested prayers and support as further details are awaited.

Despite the personal loss, Governor Eno has expressed his unwavering commitment to continuing his service to the state of Akwa Ibom. The announcement did not provide additional information on funeral arrangements or other succession matters.

The governor’s office has not issued further comments to the media at this time, but it is expected that additional announcements will follow in due course, addressing public and ceremonial responses among other elements.
