Floyd Mayweather John Gotti Iii Fight

Floyd Mayweather will continue his exhibition boxing career this Saturday as he faces John Gotti III in a highly anticipated rematch. This fight takes place at Arena CDMX in Mexico City and follows a previous encounter in June 2023, which ended in controversy due to a post-fight brawl.

In their first meeting, Mayweather was in command before referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight in the sixth round. This decision prompted Gotti to retaliate with punches, leading to chaos in the ring as members from both camps intervened. As a result, the arena had to be evacuated.

As the rematch approaches, tensions between Mayweather and Gotti appear to have eased. Mayweather retired from professional boxing in August 2017 with an undefeated record of 50-0, having gained fame after defeating UFC star Conor McGregor. Since that retirement, he has participated in seven exhibition bouts.

At the final press conference leading up to the fight, Mayweather expressed his appreciation for the boxing culture in Mexico, stating, ‘The boxing pedigree in the whole country… since I was a little kid, it has been truly unbelievable.’ He highlighted his respect for Mexican boxing legends and conveyed excitement for competing again.

John Gotti III, the grandson of notorious crime lord John Gotti, remarked that this is ‘the best shape’ he has ever been in for a fight and emphasized his gratitude towards Mayweather for giving him another chance to compete. ‘It’s gonna be exciting,’ Gotti stated regarding the upcoming bout.

The event will also feature veteran boxer Victor Ortiz, who will make his return to the ring against Rodrigo Damian Coria. Ortiz, who has been inactive since May 2022, will face Coria, an Argentine professional eager to build his career.

The main card of the event is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. ET, available on PPV.com and traditional pay-per-view platforms.
