Former James Bond Actor Fined for Off-Trail Walk in Yellowstone National Park
Actor Pierce Brosnan, famously known for his role as James Bond, has been fined by a court in Wyoming for walking off the designated trail in Yellowstone National Park.
The 70-year-old actor was charged with foot travel in a thermal area at Mammoth Hot Springs, a popular spot in the park’s northern region known for its breathtaking natural beauty.
Court documents revealed that Brosnan had shared images on his Instagram page in November, showcasing him standing on a thermal feature within the park.
Yellowstone National Park, home to the iconic Old Faithful geyser and numerous thermal attractions, prohibits visitors from straying off the designated boardwalks and paths due to the fragility of the landscape.
In response to the incident, Brosnan expressed regret and apologized, emphasizing his deep love for the environment and his appreciation for national parks.
Brosnan’s career spans beyond his iconic James Bond roles, including appearances in films such as Mamma Mia, The Thomas Crown Affair, and the recent movie Black Adam.
The court hearing, presided over by U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie Hambrick in Mammoth, Wyoming, concluded with Brosnan being fined and required to make a donation to Yellowstone Forever, a non-profit organization supporting the park.
Mammoth Terraces, where the trespassing incident occurred, is a scenic area with mineral-encrusted hot springs cascading down a hillside, showcasing the geological wonders of Yellowstone.
Among Brosnan’s notable credits are the TV series Remington Steele and films like Mrs. Doubtfire, solidifying his status as a versatile and seasoned actor in the entertainment industry.
