Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Musona Shines in Saudi Pro League as Mosimane Claims First Win
Former Kaizer Chiefs‘ striker Knowledge Musona continues to excel in the Saudi Pro League, showcasing his goal-scoring prowess for Al Riyadh, while Pitso Mosimane‘s fortunes begin to turn as he secures his first win in the league.
Mosimane, the seasoned coach, celebrated a crucial 2-0 victory for his team on Friday as they triumphed over Al Tai, relieving mounting pressure on him. Meanwhile, Musona, a Zimbabwean international, sparkled once again for Al Riyadh by finding the net in their 2-1 win against Al Akhdood, marking his second consecutive goal-scoring appearance.
Al Riyadh now sits in 14th place with 23 points, five points ahead of Mosimane’s Abha FC, with Musona’s pivotal goals pushing them up the standings. Musona’s goal arrived in the 45th minute, with Andre Anthony Gray sealing the victory with another strike, propelling Al Riyadh to a crucial win in the league.
This stellar run of form for Musona, tallying three goals and two assists this season, comes amid discussions to lure him out of international retirement following his pivotal role with the Zimbabwe Warriors for over a decade. On the domestic front, Musona’s former teammate, Khama Billiat, has joined Yadah FC in Zimbabwe’s PSL after a spell without a club, with hopes of reigniting his career alongside Musona.
Both Musona and Billiat emerged from the esteemed Aces Youth Soccer Academy, forming a formidable partnership for the Zimbabwe national team. While Billiat seeks redemption in his career, Musona has established himself as a leader at Al Riyadh, now serving as the club captain and continuing to shine in the Saudi Pro League.
