Former NFL Player Sues Chiefs Over Discrimination and Wrongful Termination

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A former NFL player is suing the Kansas City Chiefs, claiming wrongful termination and racial discrimination in his pay. Ramzee Robinson, who worked for the team for nine years, filed the lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri on Sunday.
Robinson alleges that he was wrongfully accused of assaulting a female colleague and that the Chiefs refused to provide him with security footage of the incident. He was fired just days after the Super Bowl, on February 15, 2025, shortly after a meeting with Chiefs executive vice president of administration, Kirsten Krug.
The lawsuit states that Robinson earned a salary of $125,000 but discovered that similar positions in other NFL teams paid an average of $171,932. He claims that the Chiefs generally paid Black employees less than their white counterparts.
Robinson sought a pay review from team president Mark Donovan earlier in his tenure, but it was denied. The lawsuit mentions that the Chiefs hired Melissa Weinsz, a white female, to replace Robinson at a higher salary shortly after his termination.
Moreover, Robinson says the Houston Texans expressed interest in interviewing him for a position, but the Chiefs allegedly blocked that opportunity, citing contract violations.
Chiefs spokesman Brad Gee stated that the organization does not tolerate discrimination but declined to comment due to the ongoing litigation.
This lawsuit sheds light on potential racial pay disparities within the NFL and raises important questions about workplace practices in the league.
