Fran Drescher Reveals ‘Rotation’ of Friends with Benefits Amid Life Changes

NEW YORK—Fran Drescher, the iconic star of “The Nanny,” has opened up about her current dating life, revealing a ‘rotation’ of friends with benefits during a recent Cinema Society screening of “The Friend.” The actress, now 67, first disclosed her unconventional relationship style five years ago.
“I have a little rotation,” Drescher told Page Six, responding to reactions at the screening. Her playful demeanor quickly turned serious when discussing her close friendship with her ex-husband, Peter Jacobson. The two have maintained a unique bond since marrying in 1978, separating in 1996, and divorcing in 1999 after Jacobson came out as gay. “I love my gay ex-husband. He fulfills a lot of needs in my life,” she stated.
Drescher’s candidness about her personal life comes nearly five years after she admitted to having a singular ‘friend with benefits.’ At that time, she shared she typically saw this person twice a month due to her busy schedule, which she found to be “more than enough.” Now, her ‘rotation’ appears to offer a similar flexibility.
Amid personal upheavals—including the loss of her father and the impact of California wildfires on her home—Drescher has had to put her Broadway adaptation of “The Nanny” on hold. “You have to be in the right frame of mind to work,” she explained, emphasizing her need to be “gentle with myself” during challenging times.
“My house is still standing, but it’s not livable,” Drescher said. Currently, she divides her time between Beverly Hills and New York City, where she expressed her happiness about having a home. “I have a place here in New York, too,” she added.
Drescher acknowledged the changes in her life with optimism, sharing her efforts to cope and heal by keeping her circle small. “I share what I’m going through, and over time, it gets better,” she noted.
Other celebrities attended the screening and party, including Bill Murray, Connie Britton, and Zooey Deschanel.
