France’s Arthur Fils and Chloé Paquet to Compete in Hopman Cup

Bari, Italy — The International Tennis Federation (ITF) announced the teams for the upcoming Hopman Cup on Wednesday.

French players Arthur Fils, currently ranked 19th, and Chloé Paquet will represent France in the tournament set to take place from July 16 to 20. Founded in 1989, the mixed team event will occur right after Wimbledon, which is the year’s third Grand Slam tournament.

Besides France and the defending champions from Croatia, four other nations will compete. Greece will have Stefanos Tsitsipas, formerly ranked No. 3 and now No. 19, along with Despina Papamichail, who is currently ranked 202nd. The host nation, Italy, will be represented by Jasmine Paolini, ranked 5th, and Flavio Cobolli, ranked 34th.

Spain will feature Marina Bassols Ribera, currently ranked 235th, and Roberto Bautista Agut, who stands at No. 56. Canada‘s team includes Bianca Andreescu, ranked 121st and the 2019 US Open champion, and Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is currently No. 27. Croatia’s team boasts Donna Vekic, ranked 19th, and Duje Ajdukovic, ranked 175th.

Matches will consist of three events: one men’s singles, one women’s singles, and one mixed doubles.

In addition to this announcement, Arthur Fils is currently positioned in the ATP Top 20 as he prepares for the upcoming Roland-Garros tournament.
