Gears of War: Reloaded coming to PlayStation on August 26, 2025

REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft announced the upcoming release of “Gears of War: Reloaded,” a remastered version of the classic game. The new title will launch on August 26, 2025, for Xbox Series X, PlayStation, and PC, priced at $39.99.
According to Mike Crump, Studio Head at The Coalition, “Gears of War: Reloaded is a celebration of one of gaming’s most iconic franchises.” The remastered version features 4K resolution, support for 120 frames per second, and enhanced multiplayer capabilities with cross-play and cross-progression across all platforms, providing a definitive way to experience the beloved saga.
The game offers a full collection of content from “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition,” including all post-launch downloadable content at no extra cost. Players will gain access to a bonus campaign act, multiplayer maps and modes, and a variety of classic characters and cosmetics as they progress.
“Gears of War: Reloaded” caters to both cooperative and competitive players, with a campaign that supports two-player co-op and an 8-player multiplayer mode. Additionally, players who owned “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” prior to the announcement will receive a free upgrade to the remaster.
The announcement comes as excitement builds for the 20th anniversary of the franchise in 2026. Many players are looking forward to revisiting the iconic title, especially with improvements such as enhanced audio features, including 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos and 3D spatial audio.
While the game will be available for multiple platforms, Xbox assures that owners of the PlayStation will not miss out on the shared play features. “Whether you’re teaming up in split-screen or jumping online, the experience is designed for cross-play across all platforms without needing a Microsoft account, although signing in will unlock full functionality,” Crump added.
This remaster marks the first time “Gears of War” officially releases on PlayStation, a significant shift as the series was previously an Xbox exclusive. With zero loading screens in campaign mode and visually enhanced graphics, the anticipation for the title continues to rise.
